"The heartbreaks are more painful":The Hot Seat with Milkshake

Introducing 'The Hot Seat', topical discussion posts featuring people who have inspired and fascinated me with their life stories. For my first post, I want to introduce you all to 'Milkshake', a 29 year old Chemist/Photographer.

10 memes later, It dawned on me that I was texting back and forth with a guy I had only met once at my cousins wedding back in April, (annnd I don't even know his real name).

He was the unofficial photographer at the wedding. From his work, I immediately knew he was incredibly talented. He struck me as a self- motivated,quirky and weird person. Weird in a good way that is. He isn't afraid to stand out and make people laugh. I was really mesmerized by his positive aura, his ability to make everyone around him feel as if they had known him for years.

The Journalist in me had to put him in the Hot Seat.

How did you get into photography?

"Well, I did always like outstanding photography, I always had these HD wallpapers for my computer that I always cycled till one day I had an epiphany like wait, these images are made by people that are no different than I am so why can't I make my own wall papers."

Have you always wanted to be a photographer?

"Actually I never wanted to be a photographer, I remember dating this girl and we were watching this show that had a photographer and I made her promise never to date a photographer because they were a creepy/thirsty bunch . Being a chemist was my goal." What is your proudest photography work to date?

"I don't know about proud but I have had 2 of my pieces displayed at various art galleries in Zimbabwe which one would be proud of."

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

"I am actually Time magazines person of the year 2006..."

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

"Carefree, Misfit, extrovert"

Have you found it to be easier to date as you get older?

"I've found it harder, the heartbreaks are more painful"

Do you think it’s true that guys mature late?

"Not necessarily, it's the company that you choose, because take a guy brought up surrounded by women might mature faster because there is a barrier that doesn't allow him to do playful boy things that are regarded as being immature" What is the dating scene like in Harare?

"I'd assume normal like everywhere else, I don't pay attention"

Can you give us any life advice? "Never miss out on a chance to enjoy life, you will thank yourself later when you reminisce over the good old days"

"When you're young, work to learn rather than to earn, growth comes when you strive to be better not when you strive to earn more."

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

"That's a very broad question and I have a lot of instances I can think of but I think going to get a college degree takes the cup."

Alongside his photography, he also works as a chemist in Harare (Zimbabwe)

For those who have never been to Zimbabwe, what part would you recommend to visit? "If money wasn't an issue and they could only visit 1 place it would be Epworth, even I, a local was in awe when I went there for the first time, it's the Africa you see on TV, it's a sight you don't get to experience everyday"

He was the 'wedding paparazzi', everywhere we turned, he was snapping.

What are some of your future goals?

"Everyone I've spoken about it has been against the idea but I do see myself building my house that is just studio space then just one separate room for my bed, not too much to ask right?"

What are your goals for the rest of this year?

"To become more connected with family."
